The first two days of 2023 Gold Buckle Futurity competition saw both open and Gold Buckle incentive horses cash in across the board on Dec. 28 and 29, 2023, in Belton, Texas.
Beau Peterson is the undisputed conversation of the inaugural Gold Buckle event, sweeping both days of the Gold Buckle Incentive and placing in the open aggregates and rounds throughout the two days of breakaway roping competition on Dec. 28 and 29.

In the 6 & Under, Peterson earned the $25,000 win on Cash Bonus and second-place $15,000 (with 50% going to the slot owner and 50% to the roper) on Rey Ahead Of Time in the Gold Buckle aggregate, and banked an additional $5,750 combined in the open aggregate for her fifth and sixth-place finishes overall. Peterson also earned $1,000 in Round 3 for a second-place finish on Woodys Lil Boon Doc.
The following morning in the 4-and-Under, Peterson once again locked up the Gold Buckle incentive win on Rollin On The River. The win earned Peterson $20,000. Rollin On The River also won the open futurity, worth $7,500 and picked up $2,500 in the opening three rounds of competition. Peterson finished fourth aboard CR Pepto Tuff Lena in the Gold Bucle Incentive, earning $7,500, and sixth in the open aggregate, worth $1,500.
To cap off the 48 hours of Peterson domination, she earned the 6 & Under short round bonus of $1,000 on Metallic Magnum, bringing her Gold Buckle 2023 earnings to $86,750.
