What is the Gold Buckle Futurities Elite Stallion Enrollment Program?

How many stallion slots are available in the program?

A maximum of 85 stallion slots are available. This limit may be re-evaluated every three years based on demand, which could lead to an increase in payouts.

Do I need to own a stallion to purchase a slot?

No, you do not need to own a stallion to purchase a slot. With written consent from the stallion owner, you can enroll a stallion that you do not own.

Are foal nominations required?

No, foal nominations are not required. All foals sired by enrolled stallions are automatically eligible for GBF events and incentives if the stallion is actively enrolled in the program.

Can I transfer or sell my stallion slot?

Yes, you can transfer or sell your slot with written approval from the GBF management team, provided you are in good standing with Gold Buckle Futurities.

What happens if I sell my enrolled stallion?

If you sell an enrolled stallion, you may request that the stallion slot accompanies the sale. However, this transfer must be approved by GBF management before the sale is finalized.

How much is the annual enrollment fee, and when is it due?

The annual enrollment fee is $7,500, due by February 1 each year. Payments can be made via check, wire transfer, or credit card (subject to a 4% processing fee).

How are winnings distributed in the Elite Stallion Incentive Program?

The program has a 100% payback structure. Winnings are split 50/50 between the competing horse and the Elite Stallion slot owner, with payouts distributed 30% in the Spring/Summer Event and 70% in the Fall/Winter Event.

Can I change the nominated stallion in my slot?

Yes, if you own a Junior Stallion (a stallion whose oldest foal crop is under four years), you may choose to name a Senior Stallion in its place with written consent from the owner. However, once the Junior Stallion’s foals reach four years of age, the slot can no longer nominate a Senior Stallion.

What happens if I miss the payment deadline?

If payment is not received or postmarked by February 1, a late fee of $1,000 may be paid to extend the deadline to March 31st. After March 31st, slot owners forfeit all rights including their Elite Breeders slot and the right to nominate a horse into the Gold Buckle Futurities program.

What are Junior and Senior Stallions?

A Junior Stallion is defined as any stallion whose first crop is younger than four years old. Stallions that meet this criteria may designate a Senior Stallion—one whose first foal crop is older than four years old. The Senior Stallion’s foals will be eligible for the Elite Stallion Incentive sidepot at Gold Buckle Futurity events. This allows Stallion Slot Owners to see a return on their investment before the Junior Stallion’s foals reach competition age.

What is a Departed Stallion?

Departed stallions are no longer active Elite Stallions, but their foal crops from active years remain eligible for the Elite Stallion Incentive sidepot at Gold Buckle Futurity events.
