At just four years old, Metallic Hot Rose is already playing a much bigger game.

The 2021 sorrel mare by Metallics MVP and out of Lil Hot Rosita (by Hottish) was named the 2025 Gold Buckle Futurities Super Horse Award winner, presented by OE Nutraceuticals, after putting together a season that spanned multiple events, multiple riders, and nearly six figures in earnings.
The Super Horse Award honors the horse that earns the most money across the Gold Buckle Futurities season while competing in two or more events. In 2025, no horse checked every box more emphatically than Metallic Hot Rose.
By yearโs end, she had amassed $95,960 in total earnings, all of which counts toward her lifetime earnings. It is a season total that would stand out for any horse. For a 4-year-old already succeeding in maturity classes designed for horses six and under, it is exceptional.
Metallic Hot Rose made her first major statement in the Gold Buckle Futurities Spring Showdown in the Futurity Breakaway with Loni Yates. The pair earned $27,985, highlighted by a second-place finish in the Average, second in the Stallion Incentive, a win in the Intermediate division worth $4,380, and a victory in the Intermediate Stallion Incentive paying $10,260.
She followed that with another strong spring showing in the Maturity Breakaway, adding $15,043 to her season total. That run included a ninth-place finish in the Average, along with wins in the Intermediate and Intermediate Stallion Incentive, the latter paying $8,900.
When the fall events rolled around, Metallic Hot Rose only widened the gap.
Back in the Futurity Breakaway with Yates, she earned $30,350, finishing second in the Average for $6,500, second in the Stallion Incentive, second in the Intermediate, and second in the Intermediate Stallion Incentive.
Her versatility was on full display in the Futurity Tie Down, where she was ridden by her owner, Bobby Abernathy. The duo collected $10,590, highlighted by a third-place finish in the Intermediate and second in the Intermediate Stallion Incentive, adding $7,200 more.
She capped her fall campaign in the Limited Tie Down with Tripp Brown, earning $11,992 after finishing third in the Average and winning the Stallion Incentive for $9,400.
Across breakaway and tie-down, futurity and maturity, spring and fall, Metallic Hot Rose proved she could do it all, and do it against the deepest competition the rope horse industry has to offer.
The 2025 Super Horse Award, presented by OE Nutraceuticals, recognizes not just a standout run, but a complete season of excellence. Metallic Hot Roseโs ability to show up in different events, with different riders, and deliver at every stop defined what this award is meant to celebrate.
At only four, her resume already reads like one most horses spend a lifetime chasing. And if 2025 is any indication, Metallic Hot Rose is only getting started.
